In that case why drag more people into this problem? Just commit suicide. I'm sure assisting someone or 'killing them with permission' is tramautizing.
However if that person is in a situation where they can't move and commit then it could be discussed.
Wait, are you actually suggesting the terminal sick to jump off a building?!
I was thinking about this last night. It just seems so cruel to me to force someone to kill themself when they could have a doctor do it for them painlessly
Euthanasia for the terminally ill or the elderly with diagnosed Alzheimer's/dementia who wish to go out before they lose it, yes. It's undignified to waste away to nothing with a terminal illness.
I used to be against suicide and assisted suicide but my beliefs have matured as I've grown older. I used to think it was selfish but I feel like if the person is terminally ill and they know they will suffer, then there is nothing wrong with getting help to end their life.
I mean it all sounds nice this way in which case I'd agree with it, but you know there are just going to be people (including and especially) doctors because yeah there's an oath but it's only the oath stopping you which in practice, is nothing. All in all I do think it should be legal if it's completely clear that it's the patients wish and not an opinion influenced by friends or family
I think it should be legal, but not covered by insurance and insurance should have no part in it. There should also be a doctor who does nothing else except handle euthanasia and it requires a prescription from your doctor with a few weeks of counseling prior to the decision. It shouldn't be easy to achieve and like SS Disability there has to be some kind of proof that even with excellent medical care, there is no chance of you recovering.
If I were terminally ill or bed-bound with no quality of life, I think I'd rather be taken off life support and die than live in pain until my illness kills me off instead. So for cases such as that, yes. Otherwise, I don't think so.
If theyre going to die a slow painful death and want to end it before they just become a corpse with decrepit insides, then yes. It should be only available to those with very rare and deadly diseases though
Wait, are you actually suggesting the terminal sick to jump off a building?!
No, he's saying why waste the doctor's time when they could actually be saving the lives of those who want to live? Jumping off a bridge is not the only option to suicide. If a person wants to commit suicide then they can. Freely.
