Your #1 Health/Beauty Secret?
Time to compile a nice wee list of proven (by yourself) health and beauty secrets that you've personally benefited by. None of this "acai berry smoothie for good skin" crap. We need realistic products, tips and tricks to help us all achieve our beautiful and healthy bests!
For example: I used to get annoying bacne (back acne) which was the literal opposite of "kawaii", and then one day I stumbled across a tip about finishing off showers with a cold blast and now I'm addicted to doing it. It closes and tightens your pores and therefore reduces the oil excreted from your skin, and literally a month later after years of ugly suffering my back was more or less flawless and now just the occasional pimple rears it's ugly head. (I've also really started loving finishing off a shower cold - so refreshing and cool!)

I have a problem with bacne, shower with cold water, and it has reduced it! I bought tons of Neutrogena products but they don't work! What do you guys recommend??

Don't take a shower/bath every day unless you need to.
Taking showers/using soap really dries out your skin and leaves it peeling and cracked. The secret is to shower one day, then only wash up the next (rinse off/wash your groin, under arms, and face) in the winter time, and shower daily (no more than one per day unless you're exercising) during the summer time
I have flawless skin that's always baby soft. I don't even need to use oils or lotion either
edit: do you speak Japanese btw? It's totally ot but I've never met another person on this site that does except me

These aren't really that amazing but using olive oil mixed with hot water for your lips/skin for dryness and putting toothpaste on zits helps a lot.

Epsom salt baths are amazing if your muscles are sore or if you're really tired and need a refresher.

Stop drinking soda. I can't stress that to people enough. It's one of the worst things you can put in your body, and ****s with your weight, skin, blood sugar...Everything. It's literally poison.
And drink lots of water!! I know they say 8 glasses a day should be your goal, but honestly I think you should drink as much as possible. Every bodily process requires water, so it's important to keep your body flushed and hydrated.
I know these are basic tips, but they really have changed my quality of life SO much.

Really depends on your genetics. I get sweaty so I need to shower every day, sometimes even twice.
But wash your hair only 3-4 times a week with shampoo if you want nice hair.

I never wash my face. Just rinse it off with water. But every facial soap I've tried has made me break out, when I don't wash my face it stays flawless.
Also, WEN does wonders for my hair, it allows me to be able to groom it whichever way I want to.

Even 3-4 times a week is too much. Unless you have really greasy hair, your hair would probably be better off being washed only once or twice a week. You don't want to lose all of those essential, natural oils.
And for all my black sistren: this may not be for everyone, but I've actually stopped shampooing my hair altogether. Most mainstream shampoos have silicone and sulfates and other chemicals that can quickly dry out our hair. I've started co-washing my hair about once every 3 or 4 days, and moisturize my hair with olive and coconut oil everyday.

Only wash face with cold water. Thank you Naomi Campbell & Pharrell.
Everything else is the basics, like what everyone else stated above

this is actually something that can damage your skin and not recommended
the best solution for acne are dermatologists

washing your hair everyday isn't recommended indeed, but once a week isn't neither
once every 3 days is my choice as well
drugstore shampoos really don't do anything, buy special (more expensive) shampoos, they're amazing and worth the extra money, but don't stop shampooing
--
also, if you're white, you can never forget to use sunscreen before going out, if helps a lot, and if like me, you easily tan, this will bring back your original color and avoid farmer's tan, if you have problem with acnes, you should buy a special one
this is kinda something to everyone, but especially to my pale sistrens

Yup, well my hair gets oily fast so I need to lol.
And I suggest this shampoo:
No silicone or sulfates. Even though it's very expensive, it's totally worth it and it smells heavenly! Moisturizing your hair with olive and coconut oil is bad unless you only use it as a 20 minute mask. It clogs the pores in your scalp which will result in hair loss. This applies to both non Black and Black people btw.

Twice a day? You're stripping your skin of it's natural oils and will age terribly/be bald when you're older.
