Like, who are you protecting?
This is an internet forum where young gays come to insult popstars.
It's not like it's some family oriented environment.
and if you do want to clean the site up, start with things that are actually issues
like the covert racism from certain members that gets swept under the rug
or that update
imposing rules against inoffensive nicknames and "vulgarity" isn't really doing anything to help us
it isn't doing anything, actually
just my two cents...

Latch, hun. Supaspaz put it pretty accurately and let m applaud that, but I thought we mods had covered this more than enough times before - it's not because we're prudes. It's not even us who think it's the priority in many cases, it's the ad sites which are the only thing keeping the site online. Racism isn't going to be swept under the rug - report it, follow up with a help request, etc. We don't protect that speech here. The update is not being swept under the rug. The rules are more to ensure the continuation of the site and a stable, pleasant community that people will actually use rather than for a misguided attempt at helping or protecting members.
We get the frustration - TRUST me, we do - but I'd really like you all to try to see things from our perspective. Put yourselves in our place - amongst a team of just 13, you're tasked with the smooth operation and preservation of a community of 7,000 active people, with the occasional added factor (as with the censor, vulgarity, etc.) of administration relaying things that ad providers say you
must do or face a cut off and potential shutdown. It's not an easy job, it's not a walk in the park, and we do the best that we can with what we're given. With that task that we are given, of course, comes the community - we do take you all into account. We do talk about how you will react. However, there's times at which we can't do anything on account of how you all feel or even how WE feel. It's a complicated process.
