They deserve it, but it should never happen they were already tried. People reading the newspaper will grumble and shake their heads but that's the way things go.

Not seeing any logic here I'm afraid. That's how murderers get off without punishment and reoffend. I guess here in the UK we just believe in the simple fact that people who commit crimes deserve to be held accountable for their actions but evidently in the US things don't work like that.

I guess you in the UK don't respect the time-honoured principle of double jeopardy I'd rather have a dozen murderers go free laughing than have double jeopardy removed. It's a basic right! For all people!

I do agree that double-jeopardy should be treated seriously, without it a person can be tried over and over again until found guilty whether they did it or not.

It does not matter what they say. Victims families are always emotional, victims families do not get to sit on the jury, neither do they get to prosecute the case.
The double jeopardy law ensures that the plaintiff is acquitted with evidence and that the defendant is protected from malicious retrials. Without it, appeals would start to become frivolous and plaintiffs would start to abuse the system.
I do agree though that it needs to be RELAXED rather than abolished in case of exceptional circumstances (perjury, court corruption, new compelling evidence etc.).

Double jeopardy the movie is brilliant. Tried and convicted, served her time then hunted her husband down and shot him in front of everyone and no one could do a damn thing. Talk about the ultimate revenge
