It definitely wasn't either Katy or Gaga who started that trend. I've noticed most of the songs are using the sax riff as a hook. I.E saxobeat, dancing in the dark, and Talk Dirty. There's also a ton of Kpop songs doing it too actually so it's definitely a trend, but yeah I don't think Gaga or Katy started it.

I don't think either of them started it either. Nor did I ever say I did think that. I just brought up the fact that Last Friday Night came out in August 2010 when the album was released in response to the fact that the OP said "Katy released Last Friday Night June 2011 so dont even try it." Because technically, that's not true. I'm not saying Gaga copied Katy. I can understand how it was implied. I was just correcting him. Just because it was announced as a single in June 2011 doesn't mean that's when the song came out.
