I mean I love Fancy, so I would bop hard to that.
My thing is, there is something fun about hearing them sing a song in your language that you actually understand.
Like I would spazz so much harder of Jessica and Krystal performing California Gurls than I would over them covering Twinkle by TTS or something. I love both songs, but its just fun to see them perform English songs, that aren't Kpop.
I understand your point though, but SM fans aren't as united as YG fans. Covering other groups only leads to chaos. When EXO covered DBSK

and now with Red Velvet about to cover Genie, I'm anticipating the overreaction from Sones about how they can never live up to the real queens!!!
It's easier for them to just cover international songs and avoid all the drama that comes with SM's dramatic ass fandoms.
Being a fan of so many SM groups for me is like trying to be a Monster/KatyCat hybrid. I mean they all talk so much **** about each other
