Following in the footsteps of several other major tech companies, Apple has released a diversity report on the sex and race of its employees (via Re/code). As is common in the tech industry, the majority of Apple's workforce is male -- only three out of 10 employees around the globe are female. Broken down, males compose 65 percent of non-tech workers, 80 percent of tech workers, and 72 percent of Apple's leadership.

I defended Twitter and will defend Apple. Males compose a majority of the tech industry so this is no surprise

No surprise here.

I'm not a big fan of Apple but it's quite normal for males to be the main working force. It's a tech company after all. Not many women are interested in the high tech stuff.

That actually isn't bad though

What about older people or gay people or black people?

Its actually better than I expected it to be

Let's break it down:

55% white
7%black
15% Asian
11% Hispanic
30% females

If they picked random US people they would end up like this:

72% white
13% black
5% Asian
33% Hispanic
50% females


So to properly represent the US population Apple needs:

-30% more whites
-2 times more blacks
-3 times more Hispanics
-3 times less Asians
-2/3 more women





Also the article made a mistake: they capitalized the word "Black" but not "white".

It doesn't really work like that though. Apple seem to hire people regardless of race, sex etc.
It's just that most people who work for Apple, are men, white etc.

Of course, everything that apple do is good.
