Coming from someone who does both, it's pretty equal. But since I love doing them it's not really difficult. It's fun. Although dealing with anxiety or fears gets in the way, making it difficult. That's why you have so many undiscovered talented people. They let fear overtake them and never go for it.
In terms of actually performing it better, acting is harder imo.
In terms of dealing with all that comes with it from fame, a singing career is harder cause from what I've seen, the biggest movie stars still have a lot more privacy than singers in general.
I'd say acting, just because there are people who are born with a naturally amazing voice and they don't really have to work at it, whereas with acting you have to be able to convincingly portray your part and properly show different emotions and not everyone can do that, even with practice.
I think both are god given talents. You can sing well, or you can't. You have a natural gift to acting, or you don't. But, I definitely think acting is much more difficult. In the acting field you have to continuously train yourself and improve yourself and there are a dozen things you have to consider and think of whilst acting. With singing, yes, you can get vocal training and the like, but it's really ultimately the sound that comes out of your throat that matters.
I feel that just about anyone can learn to act, and be good at it if they have enough dedication.
A person can learn how to sing as well, but it is uncommon to actually have a good singing voice. And it doesn't seem as though someone can overcome a subpar voice.
If you're a bad singer, there's really not a great deal you can do to change that. Lessons can only take you so far, you're born with a voice or you're not.
Acting is a skill that can be acquired, so it's substantially easier.
They're both difficult, but I think acting ability can be more easily acquired than singing. If you can't really sing, there's not much you can do to improve yourself.
