So true. I bet a lot of those thread makers can't wait for another airplane crash or an earthquake to get a new "hit".

Some stories about murder are, indeed, uncalled for if they're not current events ( Israel-Palestina for instance)

I disagree with that, I mean, if they're important as the Ukraine crash, posters have the right to post it

You need thicker skin and a serious change of perspective if a thread title can ruin your night.

Simple solution: if the thread title suggests something you wouldn't want to read, don't read it/go into it. Some of y'all are saying "this is a pop music forum, keep it that way", well just stay in Music News or Base, then. No one told you to go into the Lounge.

Why can't this be a place for all news? I'm sure that's why the mods don't care, with more diverse articles/stories on here, come more clicks, and with more clicks, comes more ad revenue.

Don't you want to be well informed? Again, if you object, don't go into those threads, or don't go into the Lounge. It's really that simple.

I really don't see the problem, so yes tragedies are used to get hit threads but news is news regardless of how or why it's relayed. I personally appreciate it because I'm not much of a news seeking person and the threads help me be aware with what's going on. I do not however appreciate THIS particular thread because it's going to make some people too apprehensive to post up the news. Honestly, if you do not want to add to the thread's success, just stay out of it, no?

There is a difference between posting "news" and disturbing information that isn't necessary.

I understand posting news. I understand posting war stories or about earthquakes, etc. But stories about a father microwaving his infant daughter are just horrible and people make jokes about it and the OP is obviously looking for someone to say 'microwave ha!'. There is no need for any of that!

Do you guys have any perspective at all on what qualifies as news? ATRL is an international site, meaning "Father in Milwaukee murders children" "Cannibal in Toronto kills 3 people" etc. are NOT newsworthy. They are local tragedies that are only relevant to people who live in the areas affected. Unless you're posting about mass shootings, famous deaths, etc. (things that are relative on a national or international scale), you're not trying to keep us informed... you're just trying to take advantage of someone's loss for a hit thread.
