Clinical depression can be prevented in the stages of its appearance, before it gets critical.
Also comparing depression with cancer is unexceptable.

How can be clinical depression prevented, please, when doctors dont know what causes it or even how the brain functions? And almost all antidepressants such as prozac have adverse effects - they can worsen the chemical imbalance and even cause suicidal tendencies.
Therapy is complicated. Every patient needs individual approach and every psychologist and psychiatrist has different methods. The success depends on the fact if a therapist and patient can create a good relationship between each other. To find a psychologist or psychiatrist/therapy that suits you can be hard and often takes time, even years, while depression can progress at different speed. Also going through many unsuitable therapies can worsen the depression and many people refuse to undergo it again if they werent treated properly several times before.
And why do you think that to compare cancer and depression is unacceptable? Both can kill you.
