For years, A&W has served their burgers in distinct foil wrappers with the burger's name emblazoned on them. On the back, there was a short paragraph explaining how, unlike their competitors, they went the extra step to keep your burgers secure and warm with the high-quality packaging.
However, I went into A&W today and ordered a "Spicy Guacomole Teen Burger". Upon receiving it my blood went cold... I was horrified to see my burger had been served in a cheap paper wrapper. Turning the horrid thing over in shock and disgust, I saw a new message on the back which infuriated me!
What a steaming load of horse s***! It has nothing to do with the environment - that's how they pass it off to the sheep-like consumers who think no further - the truth is it's just cheaper!
A quick Google shows A&W documents quoting A&W franchise owners complaining about the extra cost of the foil wrappers and asking for a change to the cheap paper crap!
Many others feel the same as me!

Dear A&W,
I am writing to you to express my extreme disappointment over the discontinued use of your foil burger wrappers

The blurb on the foil bags boasted the importance of serving your customers high-quality, fresh and hot burgers, and that's why you use the foil bags. The sincere and caring tone of the message really made us feel like we mattered

I would like to thank you, A&W, for destroying the one remaining quality fast food hamburger. What was once considered a higher class burger is now diminished to be on par with the rest of the vagrant burgers.
What am I supposed to do now? Order a Whopper?

A&W Canada has changed from their great foil wrappers that helped keep their burger warm to a cheap paper wrapper as seen here. The Mushroom Mozza is not the first burger to see this cost cutting as every A&W burger is wrapped in this new wrapper. I am not too happy with it as the toppings from your burger usually fall out.

Themed,“It’s all in the details,” the new campaign features a series of ads that reignite boomer memories about A&W. The ads reinforce details about food and service that are still the same today – for example, serving root beer in a frosted mug, making onion rings fresh each day and serving hamburgers in foil pouches to help keep them warm.

Maunders says another significant part of the appeal of A&W to babyboomers is it hasn’t changed the way it makes or presents its food in nearly a half-century. Burgers are still served in foil so they don’t get cold, root beer still comes in a frosted mug (the take-out version doesn’t have ice because it dilutes the taste, Maunders says) and onion rings are all cut, ringed, breaded and fried on-site.

Now there's no difference between A&W or any other restaurant. I won't be eating there any more.
What a crock!
"It's all in the details" A&W!
Bring back the foil!
