Per se, nope. But if you say it badly with the intention to offend, even the word "chair" can be offensive.

There aren't offensive words. There are offensive meanings, offensive contexts and offensive manners.

Tranny is seen as the 'offensive' term but that in itself is quite the hybrid term,

I hated how Transsexuals shamed RuPaul for the use of 'Tranny' and 'Shemale'

I mean, Drag Queens have always been called those same slurs alongside Transsexuals.

I think they have every right to reclaim it as well..

But anyway, transvestite does just mean cross dresser, but if said to an actual transgender persob who's assigned sex at birth doesn't fit their gender and who they are inside, than it's offensive.

However, as a trans person and a person of ethnic background etc. I don't jump up and get all hurt when someone uses a slur. And I don't get the "tranny" controversy either, many transgender and transsexual people use it to describe themselves and each other.
