Nicki is going to get the Vogue cover this era. I can feel it. If Kim Kardashian can get the cover, Nicki surely can. Something tells me that Anna is probably really digging Nicki's style change.

It's a fun bop that I actually love and have played 50+ times already, but at the same time, this song is completely juvenile and tacky - and the video looks equally so judging the BTS preview - and is steering Nicki's career into a "worse than Starships" direction.
Of course "worse than Starships" isn't an issue for me, because that song is everything to me, but I'm disappointed in you basically backtracking the months and months you've harked on about her maturing, just because this song is becoming a hit.
Nicki isn't getting her Grammy this year. I'd be very surprised if she's nominated, and I am putting it down to this track alone. Even if this is the 13th track on the album and shoe-horned onto the end of the LP, the "damage" is done. Is this something you should be proud of and celebrating, given everything you've lectured me about the past 2 years?

Willy hasn't bandwagon'd on, sweetie. He simply has seen the damn light that all of y'all should have realized y'all would see if y'all took the time to wait and judge the song in HQ. He made a mistake and he is human just like the rest of us. The way he approached Nicki, like you said, was respectable and with class. I would have done the same, but his opinion changing isn't based on the song's success so far.
This isn't taking her career in a "worse than Starships" direction at all. Where is the REAL backlash for this song? For the video teaser? The song got mostly positive comments from blogs and, lord, one hip-hop enthusiast came for Nicki for not being a good role model for his daughter and he was SCALPED by feminists and people who don't even like Nicki.
Where were those people defending Nicki shaking her ass in the Starships video? Where were the people defending her for getting that white people money? Where are those people now?
Keep living in this delusional world where Nicki got Starships-level backlash for this track and she is truly out of the race for a Grammy. Goodbye sir!

Starships is Nicki's biggest song. There was no actual backlash beyond a few radio DJs and blogs, and the song sold the album and fixed all the mess Nicki made with Stupid Hoe, Roman Holiday and her meltdowns. I suggest you stop talking about things you don't even remember properly.
And I'm not even on about backlash anyway. I'm on about creative direction.

I don't know what planet you're living on but Starships was a key moment in her career that started the backlash of her "abandoning" Hip-Hop. Starships hurt her and helped her equally.

Who are you talking to? Nobody in this thread thinks she has no star power, or that she requires a feature for a hit.

Oh no, oh no, oh no.
I remember the Starships fiasco very clearly. I remember the hatred Nicki received for that track and she still gets it to this day for that track. People take Starships and use it to discredit her, to label her a sell out, a poor lyricist, a terrible singer. That song is still haunting her to this day and it always will. Regardless of if people are actively talking about it or not, haters will still bring the track up and every time I hear it I will think of the nonstop mess we lived in for close to two years because of it.
And, yes, it wasn't the sole reason the Roman Reloaded era was a mess, but it amplified the hatred for Nicki to new extremes. It was pop, it was edm-heavy, it was RedOne, it gave haters new reasons to drag Nicki.
And, creatively, Anaconda is still better than Starships. Her lyrics are better, the chorus is more creative, and the production is fine.

No, I think 2.5 years on, it's pretty clear to see it did far more good than damage, from endorsements she wouldn't have otherwise got, to tour sales, to stuff like American Idol.
Unfortunately on ATRL and similar forums, people only post and talk about negative points and blog posts and articles when it comes to Nicki's pop music, of which there were more than a handful, but the ATRL Barbz (all of us) failed Nicki by never pushing out all the positive articles. I tried but stopped after a while, because I couldn't be assed really, and I think it's the same for plenty of others.

With fans like you, who needs haters?
You can't honestly tell me to my face (so to speak) that Roman Reloaded was EDM heavy, can you? How embarrassing.
I can't even process the Anaconda praise.

Starships sold a lot it starts and ends there. The fact that PF still outsold that album everywhere is a testament to that. It did nothing for her credibility as an artist, and while people may think anaconda is bad they won't go around questioning her artistic integrity.

I wouldn't mind. I'd be lying if I said I didn't bop to his songs cause he has some good songs!

Tell us how often it gets played on 105.1 or whatever and hot 97 (which I don't use)

Yes it's tacky but it's catchy and let's face it...
the kids don't like quality organic food they want quick easy microwavable sodium filled nonsense that kills the craving right quick.
While I agree about your opinion on the song.
I have to say that Nicki probably really wanted to put that out first for many reasons.
Now she's just in sell the album mode and going with the safe route.
Provocative imagery and basic barz relying on an already established hit to go along with her persona (a la the song Anaconda)

Ooh...i can't even get past 4 plays. You betta stan.
It shows regression as I stated time and time again; however, SB's tweets make me confident that this overall will be good.
If she's going to release her novelty bs track. I'd rather it now vs. the 4 remaining singles.
Damage...I can't with you on that.
You betta pull old receipts.

I was referring to Starships every time I said "it". How embarrassing for the both of us.
And, boo, I'm not a hater and I actually don't know what you are implying. It is simply my opinion that Starships did just as much harm as it did good.
