Nope, because Rihanna has 7 more Grammys than her, sold over 50 million singles more than her, sold over 20 million albums more? And you said Katy could "catch up" in 3 years. Do you truly believe she can get these things in 3 years?

Well the comparison isn't made or broken by the time since they debuted. We could also compare how many albums they have. Or we could just say in about 5 years. It's possible for Katy to catch up to Rihanna's status with four more albums. And regardless, Katy doesn't need to statistically outdo Rihanna for her to be at her status. Just like how Rihanna is more relevant right now than Madonna, yet her statistics are nowhere near that. She also is nowhere near the album sales of Britney, but is a bigger star at the moment.

That "she releases albums every year!" theory is stupid. The fact that demand for her music is that big she CAN release an album every year is achievement itself. And in the end, Rihanna is still bringing more albums sold yearly than any other female, except Adele? Like she sold around 6m albums in 2011(2nd of Loud and 1st of TTT) and 4.5-5m in 2012 (2nd of TTT nad 1st of UA). Who else does that? You think Katy could pull off these numbers? Nope, and she never will.
|
I agree that yearly releases being successful are impressive, but I never said it wasn't, nor did I use it as a theory, nor did I even mention the word "yearly". I merely stated that Rihanna has more albums and therefore a higher opportunity for more sales in the time period that Katy has debuted in.
To answer your question, if Katy released a new album this October I think it would still be successful and sell well.

Britney, Beyoncé and Gaga at 1 point are all bigger than Rihanna.
Rihanna has NEVER caused headlines like Britney or Beyoncé.
She doesn't even have any ICONIC or memorable moments.

Since you didn't specify a female or male artist, then Bruno Mars. If things go bigger for him with the third album he will compete.

They're not asking who's bigger than Rihanna (otherwise we'd put up artists like Madonna, Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Britney, Bey w/ DC, Barbra Streisand, Shania Twain, etc.), they're asking if another artist will come out that is bigger than Rih. They want to know if someone who debuts after Rihanna will be bigger than her overall.

The reading comprehension. He's saying someone who debuted AFTER Rihanna did.
But anyway we already several of them (Katy, Adele, Gaga etc)

What's their record sales like? I'm sure none of them are close to 200 Million

Adele & Katy are definitely contenders. Katy racking up those #1s with fewer albums and longer eras, Adele slaying the scene critically & commercially with 21.

As of now, Adele is a one era wonder. The next era will determine if she can continue with her legacy and ride the wave of her hype.

But that one hit album is more impactful and known than all of Rihanna's albums combined. And she did it without all the propaganda that surrounds Rihanna.

Well, Bey, Adele, Gaga, Taylor, Pink etc are all bigger. She didn't even crack the top 5 of the biggest female tours of all time. Even Gaga who hasn't been out as long as her, has outgrossed her touring.
