Britney's 2-year old son in the hospital
What should have been a warm and fuzzy family reunion for Britney Spears in her hometown of Kentwood, La., this weekend turned frightening when her 2-year-old son, Jayden James, reportedly had to be rushed to the emergency room.
"Jayden James Federline was admitted to the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on Sunday, November 9th," Brit's rep said in a statement posted Monday on her Web site. "Doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow."
An insider tells People that the tot suffered "a terrible allergic reaction" on Sunday afternoon at the clan's Serenity compound but is now doing "fine" after being kept overnight for observation.
"He had hives, was itchy and irritable," says the source, who adds that Britney and her mom, Lynne, stayed the night with Jayden.
It remains unclear what caused the severe reaction.
According to the London Sun, the family called 911 when Jayden became "vague and unresponsive," but when informed it would take paramedics a half-hour to arrive at Serenity, they instead opted to race him to the ER themselves.
"One minute Britney and her sons were relaxing and enjoying their first visit to Kentwood in months," says a source, "and the next minute Jayden had fallen ill."
The tab says a "distraught" Spears, who winged from Los Angeles to Louisiana on a private plane Friday with her sons and handlers, including string-pulling dad Jamie, "refused" to leave Jayden's side.
Ex-husband Kevin Federline, who gave the okay for the trip, marking the first time Brit has been allowed to cross state lines with Jayden and Sean Preston, 3, since she lost custody, may be heading to Kentwood.
The hospitalization puts a halt to Brit's plans to relax with her sons in the company of mom Lynne, sister Jamie Lynn, niece Maddie and brother Bryan ahead of the release of her new album, Circus, on Dec. 2, which is also her 27th birthday.
The carefully supervised popster, who currently enjoys three visits a week with her tykes (one is an overnight), "just wanted to get some family time in and show the boys Louisiana, now that they're getting older," a source tells People.
The getaway came just hours after Spears made a brief appearance onstage with Madonna Thursday night in Los Angeles.

I'm hoping that he's ok, I hate seeing people at hospitals, especially little kids.
