How do interviewers know if someone's gay just from their CV? Unless it was on a pink piece of paper, written in rainbow font, doused in glitter and covered in unicorn stickers, an employer isn't going to go "hmmm, graduated from Oxford and worked Coca-Cola for 6 years. What a poof."

i think some places don't want CVs and instead ask you to fill out one of their own personalised application forms, and they sometimes ask for your sexuality

I mean if you go acting like a damn butterfly to a job interview. I would also say no!

In my company there are many gay colleagues which are very very smart and have very good positions, but most importantly they act professionally

I'd say that if gays knew how to act, we would conquer the world (we are too smart for our own good hihi)

This is just the way the world is and change takes a long time to progress. Quite often the bias is subconscious too. I look forward to the day when different sexualities are considered normal and respected by everyone.

Well duh.

That's why you should always at least attempt to act 'straight' while doing job interview and stuff like that and even lie about your sexuality if they ask you (which is none of their business in the first place). It's horrible and it shouldn't be that way obviously but it's just how the world works these days.

On the other hand any self-respecting gay person shouldn't even consider working for someone homophobic unless there aren't any other options.
