I think Japan is only discussed in two ways, the it's so bizarre and people are free to do what they want! and it's a place where your life is over after high school and you work yourself to death with unbelievable hours and stress and because of that they have a high suicide rate and low birth rates. So I imagine the actual Japan is somewhere in between those two extremes.

I used to fear Japan because of what I've learnt about how heartless their Imperial Japanese Army were. They mercilessly raped and murdered my fellowmen during the WW2. But I've also learnt how the current generation of Japanese people have high morals and good manners.
