They're called board shorts everywhere I've been; Chicago, Colorado, Utah, California

I've only heard the term board shorts used for swimming trunks that go past the knee I don't use, my swimming trucks go mid-thigh (the ones in the pictures are all swimming trunks, not board shorts)

And of course I go commando. I think it's ridiculous those who wear underwear underneath.
