Sad but true. There may have been legit reasons to get us in the Middle East but after the WMD issue proved to be a bust, it became apparent that Cheney chose to exploit our post-9/11 grief to get some $ out of Iraq. Some Republicans aren't so bad *cough cough* although I'd identify myself as a Libertarian because I'm pro-choice, pro-same-sex rights, pro-legalization of marijuana, etc. And well...war is a necessary evil, but it should only be used as a VERY LAST RESORT. Fossil fuels are not a good enough motive to declare war IMHO.

It's not just Republicans, even Barack, Joe, and Hillary stated they were against gay marriage because they want to keep church and state separate. See, they'd be abusing their power as leaders if they tampered with religious freedom, however all of them stated their support for civil unions which are almost as good even though the power-of-attorney can't always guarantee tax benefits for same-sex couples. There is such a big gray area with this issue, but I personally voted in support of gay marriage just because I think it's a key step in helping our country evolve socially. But try explaining that to the religious zealots.
