Of course Roar was a much much much bigger hit than Applause, that was otherwise was never insinuated. Your point has no weight. Of course if an album has more successful singles it will sell better.

Gaga did a mistake not releasing a PROPER video for Do What U Want and that's where the mess started actually. I still remember the goosebumps and how the song became the soundtrack of what I was going through. Ugh....memories. lol

Because Gaga became too polarizing for the GP during the Born This Way era and now I feel like even if she creates good music ppl won't be here for it...

Also she's changed a lot. Like when she used to perform she had this massive confidence and when she did interviews she was the right amount of cute yet sort of mean (which the GP loved) now when she performs live she does these movements that resemble spasms and it's weird.

Oh God I seriously love her so much but not going to expect success anymore. I wanna be surprised when/if it happens.

Cheek to cheek is a good step forward in terms of re building her GP likability..so I'm happy

Because Katy is more like a singles artist and Gaga an album artist. Just look at her peak eras, Katy took all Teenage Dream juice and then rerelease it with 3 new tracks, 2 of which where singles. Gaga only released 4 Fame singles and her "rerelease" was actually a full new era with more songs that Katy's extension, yet she only released 3 singles.

Gaga is a singles waster, I saw 8 easy singles when ARTPOP came out, but after G.U.Y. underperformance maybe she couldn't put her Nelly Furtado costume on and release more songs.
