No need. I kinda want to get into teaching anyway, so this is kinda like practice.

^^ Same big smoke.
Anyways, After my test this month I will do a tutorial for everyone who's interested in programming. I'll do an ultra condensed, but easly to understand, tutorial to cover programming basics, Javascript, HTML/CSS, PHP, JQuery, JQM, iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone Development, to help people wrap their heads around everything. Then I'll get into more advanced stuff for the girls who are trying to hack.
Too Bad Abel got scalped.

I didn't know that this thread existed. Being a programmer is the #1 thing that I wanna achieve and I seriously have no idea what to do. I have some basic knowledge in HTML/CSS and Python. I always try to jump between languages when they get hard to learn. I tried to learn C/C++ and PHP but they were kinda hard I guess, or difficult since I had no one to help me. I also wanna learn hacking and computer networking. I have Backtrack 5 installed on dual boot with Windows 7. I've taken some steps in the area of hacking, like SQL or finding vulnerabilities to exploit. But that didn't go on so much as well. I hope this thread will help me a lot.

The problem is that we are still trying to learn from the bottom up, when we should be learning from the top down.
The top is the interesting stuff, how to effectively use frameworks to BUILD what you see and use every single day.
Once you grasp these, then you will have interest to travel down the rabbit hole and learn lower level stuff.
When I was like 11 the first programming language I tried to learn was C++, and I was discouraged. It was really low level, and abstract, so I didn't understand how to get from there to the programs I see everyday.
So if you start from the top, everything will make more sense and you will be more readily able to understand.

Despite that mess I posted on your wall recently ( ) I actually feel like I have a pretty good conceptual understanding (at least of OOP) because of the way I was taught.
My first professor (for a Java class) set up all our projects with tons of stuff written behind the scenes already that we would just import. Our very first assignments was literally just to call one method he (aka the TAs ddd) had already written, just so we could see what happened. Then as the class went on, he revealed the "magic." I felt like it really helped.
AND YAS @ tutorials, I love you.

haha, no that was really really good. Java is so great, and the reason we have so many apps in the Android store over the Apple store. It runs the business world along side C#.
My whole thing is that this stuff is really really simple, but because curriculum always start from the bottom up, people lose interest. Like, how can we build the cool programs that we see everyday with this basic **** you're teaching us? How the hell do I get out of the command prompt. Teach me something powerful.
Oddly enough, I dropped out of my high school programming class. THey were teaching Java like we were kids and it felt it was a little below me, but I get it.
Nowadays, programmers are more hippies and artsy. I've been rather successful at my young age in my career because I have a very artistic approach. I honestly don't give a **** about your standards, I will get **** built with the latest frameworks, and worry about the other stuff later.
Here I will focus on Javascript and PHP. They are both C based languages and use the same syntax. Python is fun but I think it is bad for a first language in a world controlled by C based languages. Same with Basic. If you start with Python, you'll probably be really pissed when you learn that most languages don't give a **** about white space.
C++ is nice too, and fast, but there are options nowadays that help us get things done faster. Perhaps we can do some interactive things with that later on. But I will prepare something after I update the OP.
I will start with interactive applications and go on to Databases, and then Games. I love making games so much, so I will try to be quick to get to that.
And I love you more.

I tried to learn how to code over the spring and bought a bunch of books, watched buckys tutorials and did codeacademy. I sort of know JavaScript but I'm really trying to learn Java now. I have the basic concepts down but it's still a but confusing. Any tutorials would be great

I have to take a low-level course next semester and I'm already dreading it. Like, I literally could care less about x86 assembly language, I'm interested in other stuff. Meanwhile I LOVED my software engineering class last semester because it felt so relevant to my life, and I lovedloved making my final project
I <3 Python but I could see why it would be confusing for a beginner.
Those tutorials sound great already I kind of taught myself how to use SQL **** a few months ago and I LOVE it now. And I wish iOS supported Java I only have Apple devices and I don't really have the motivation to sit down and learn Objective C or Swift. Maybe I'll switch to Android
