Why are you asking such a specific album though? Hmmmm. You may think it's pretentious ********, my friends think so too, but try listening to it once every month. You will appreciate it for what it is and get used to its sound too. It's amazing when you can hear for example Talking Heads' sound years before they existed throughout this album. It also helps you to like other experimental or avant-garde 60s stuff which was my main goal this year to get into. I guess I can say that the album has made me more openminded towards other acclaimed albums around that time and music in general.

I dislike the word pretentious. I strongly dislike the album, but I thought you might like it. There's no doubt in my mind that Frank Zappa is tremendously talented, but his work seems to lack either sufficient refinement or structure for me to enjoy.
I'm glad you compared the album to the Talking Heads, because I would also consider their work similar, but far more compelling.
