After humble beginnings Rihanna really got her start with arguably one of the biggest pop hits of the decade – “Umbrella”. An infectious summer jam that literally changed everything, the undeniable smash got the world’s attention. Since then it’s been consistent hits with the young pop star exploring almost all realms of music from electro-charged dance-pop anthems to stripped down piano ballads and basically all in between. With each album her status in the modern pop world seems to grow larger due in part to Rihanna’s ability to stay both fresh and current by bringing in music trends to the mainstream or capitalizing on already steady sounds. Regardless of the direction she takes it has essentially become a fall tradition to await the new Rihanna record. And, at the fast-paced rate she’s going, it will likely stay this way for a while.
