but why succumb to the POTENTIAL disdain of others when you can partake in this instead?

No, you don't understand, people would KILL you down here for voting for Obama. I live at the very southern tip of Kentucky, right by the Tennessee state line. There are NO. ****ING. BLACK. PEOPLE. HERE. Other than a couple of hispanics, this is a total white wash. And they are NOT kind to black people down here. Or gays, for that matter.
Oh, and keep this in mind: I'm agnostic, in a total bible belt area. So, um, tell me again why I shouldn't be afraid of being murdered.

There are probably tons of people who think like you and are not voting. It is because of them, that McCain will win Kentucky (among other similar states).
|
Oh, BULL-****ING-****, Ron. Kentucky is a PREDOMINANTLY Republican state. Tennessee is the same way. Unless you live in one of the bigger cities or areas, like Louisville, Lexington, and NKY, all you will see is McCain/Palin bumper stickers and signs everywhere, and, even then, you'll see a ton of them in those areas. Hell, it's not even just because it's a Republican state. It's because the opponent's black. A sad fact, but a fact, nonetheless.
Those who live in states like Ohio, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Indiana, Virginia, they have a legitimate say. Why should I even bother voting when my vote is not going to make a damn difference?

I don't know much on the states, since I don't live there, but I can say that the whole WORLD is watching this election.
Question, though; what would the outcome be if Obama was white? Would it still be a dominantly McCain area?

Well, Obama's stances on some of the issues would still turn off quite a few people here, but I'm willing to bet you that so many people who are voting for McCain here would vote for Obama if he were a white man.
I hate this election. I really freaking do.

She said that? Disgusting. All celebrities should back a candidate. Make kids more politically aware. Almost all popular celebrities are Democrats (Republicans aren't smart or funny, not enough brain power to excel at anything) so it would be for a good cause if they spoke up.

I completely disagree with you. Not only do many celebrities support a candidate because it's the 'cool' choice, but they are complete unaware of the issues that are plaguing our great country. I am 20 and if I was persuaded to vote based on someone like Diddy, then I think I would jump off of a bridge. Just because a popular celebrity makes a Democratic choice, doesn't necessarily mean that they are right. Everyone should look up the issues for themselves and think like individuals instead of people telling us what to do. When was the last time people told us what to do.... oh yea... it was when the world had dictators.

Why should you give up the rights to vote just because others disagree with you? The whole voting ballot is secret anyway right? It's not like you're going to announce to the world who you voted for. I just think you give up on a very important chance and opportunity to do your part as an American citizen. I mean, one vote actually makes a big difference? Remember the recount situation in the 2000 U.S. Presidential election. You still have time, Brandon.

Okay, how many ****ing times do I have to say this? I LIVE IN KENTUCKY. Does that not compute? I live in a state where my vote will make NO difference! NONE! ZILCH! ZERO! My vote will not make a damn difference because McCain WILL win in Kentucky, and Obama WILL win the popular vote
Look, I'm sorry that I'm getting pissed off here, because it's not you, it's the whole ****ing sentiment you guys are throwing at me, because, I mean, really, you guys DON'T LIVE HERE. You don't know what it's like here. You can't begin to comprehend an area where racial diversity is non-existent. In New York, it's a hell of a lot different. Obama's going to run away with New York. That's not the case here. At all. People don't think here like they do in New York. Kentucky is a traditionalist state. It always has been, and it always will be.
(Besides, I'm unregistered. I thought that I was registered, but I just found out today that I'm not. So there's that.)
