We WISH we were billions in debt, we're TRILLIONS in debt. But realistically, USA going under is endgame for the majority of the world. Too much money goes through America so realistically we won't be let go bankrupt. As a superpower, if push came to shove, we basically write off our own debt by printing more cash and then artificially inflating our currency to offset devaluation. Nobody is really going to tell USA it can't even though it shouldn't.
