Review Round-Up
Common words and phrases include "highly anticipated", "raunchy", "future hit", and "continued return to hip-hop roots".
If I were to label the blog reception, I'd say for the most part it got generally positive review. There are some exceptions (stressing generally positive reviews) and I included a couple below, but I'd say only three or so blogs really had negative things to say about it while a lot of others were vague and didn't really express an opinion so I didn't mention those.

The outro features her praising her "fat ass big bitches in the club" while making it clear that "the skinny bitches in the club" are not her friends. Sigh.
Considering what he had to say about the sexual content of Beyonce's "Partition" video, we really cannot wait to hear what Bill O'Reilly thinks about "Anaconda."

Given how catchy and popular the original "Baby Got Back" was, Nicki's could very will mimmick that success.

Whether or not this tune is going to be a female anthem remains to be seen. Hopefully, Minaj’s camp will release a better quality version of the song.

]The title comes from Sir Mix-A-Lot‘s infamous 1992 lyric “my anaconda don’t want none, unless you got buns, hon,” while also sampling the while “oh my gosh, look at her butt” bit from “Baby Got Back.” Nicki of course adds her own classy twist to the track by rapping about “this dude named Michael” who has a “dick bigger than Eiffel.” Minaj gets the upper hand, however, when she informs us that her “***** put his ass to sleep, now he callin’ me Nyquil.”
Doesn’t that just sound like fantasy stardust?

Nicki Minaj, 31, is returning to her strictly rap roots! In her newly leaked track, “Anaconda,” off her new album, The Pink Print, Nicki leaves the vocals to Sir Mix-A -Lot and raps about working what she’s got in the clubs. This track is definitely going to be another hit!
In the song Nicki is heard repeating another classic line,”Oh my god, look at her butt.” No mention of Becky, but speaking of Nicki’s behind, it has been causing quite the controversy and inspiring some pretty hilarious memes — one even with Marge Simpson!

They also had a poll asking if the readers liked the track... 69.63% said Yes and 30.37% said No.

Will "Anaconda" fare better? Well, it's certainly more upbeat! And white people love dancing (both ironically and unironically) to "Baby Got Back," which Nicki's song heavily interpolates. Those things considered, it's got a shot, though not necessarily a great one. In the end, the song may just be remembered more for its meme-inspiring cover art than for its sound or lyrics.:

“Anaconda” is built around a sample of Sir Mix-a-Lot‘s “Baby Got Back,” which makes sense now given the title of “Anaconda” but wasn’t exactly a for-sure move on her part until the song was leaked. Mostly, it uses the “My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns, hon” line and brings it back throughout the song, along with the original’s horns.
Meanwhile, Minaj is focused solely on her rapping, which holds with the concept of The Pink Print, her upcoming new album, as a return to form of sorts, shedding the singing voice she sometimes utilized (and still does, to an extent) to instead throw down like the old days.

I still think this isn't a good song. Lyrically she can do so much better. However do I use it now and hate myself for it? Yes. A guilty pleasure.

There are generally positive reviews from the blogs that made a stand on the song with three or so negative reviews. I wouldn't classify it as mixed reviews (n the blog atmosphere) because mixed = a balance of negative and positive reviews. I'd say that the Hollywood Life poll is pretty accurate. 70% or so people like the song while 30% don't.

It appears as though the focus is on how wild and fun it is and not on reviewing the content and the quality of the content so i'd say mixed reviews is accurate.

You have to consider that how many fun/wild songs get the "quality" label? Think about anthems like Versace (w/o Drake obv.), No Flex Zone, Loyal (well idk about this one but imo it got mixed reviews due to that lyrical content lmfao), etc.
But, I guess Super Bass will also fall under the 'fun" label and it was critically acclaimed so.
I don't know... It just feels rare for them to get a quality label.

I can't find his tweet, but the notoriously harsh and hard to please BDot of Rap Radar apparently said something negative about Anaconda, something about the track being Massive Attack 2.0. And, of course, I don't bring up the fact that he is hard to please because I think he is being unfair but instead it shows some people that he isn't the average critic.
In addition to his tweet, Miss Info tweeted something positive and Rosenberg tweeted something positive as well.
So, I'm going to stick with the "generally positive" label. It is truthful. 1/3 people don't like the track and that's not mixed.
Mixed = 2/4 positive, 2/4 negative.
And I remember Willy said the reactions to Stupid Hoe were actually positive but the video is what destroyed it so I assume as long as the music video is good... The song will do and be fine.

Most of the "haters" of the song, especially those who compared it to SH, didn't accept the low quality of the song... I only saw a few "I don't use" comments and they were from non-stans.
You guys don't get it. Just because it's a bop doesn't mean it's good. (hence the SH comparisons) And just because some of us like it more after listening to the HQ version doesn't mean we're "jumping ship", as some stated
I mean what did you guys expect... that we will hate the song even more after we listen to the HQ version? lol.

True. People actually liked the song before the video.
I recently saw the thread for it and all the people were praising it to the heavens.
And I love the SH vid tbh.
Really excited to see this video for Anaconda.

A lot of us just felt like y'all were overreacting over a LQ snippet and, every time someone said "We should wait for HQ before having meltdowns", someone would say "The quality is the only thing that is going to change. The song is the song." I also remember there were people saying that the song wasn't a bop or a banger, whether here or on Twitter.
And then Barbz had the nerve to slide into Nicki's mentions (noted, with class and grace for the most part) expecting her to suddenly decide to can the single because y'all don't like a LQ version of the song. There were great reasons why they wanted it canned, though. I'm not going to act like y'all weren't completely out of line, but it was way too soon.
The song went from "trash" to "a bop but bad" which truly makes me think some of y'all don't want to admit that you were wrong. There's nothing wrong with that and I can't prove anything because I'm not y'all nor am I calling you out or anything Diar.... Just making a very general comment.
The song isn't trash/bad nor is it good/excellent/extraordinary even for a Nicki song. Her discography is full of songs that are far worse and far better. It is an "ok" track to me. Maybe even worthy of the label "decent".

Willy isn't the end all...I remember many thought she went too far with the lyrics and hope the video would save it.
Well, as long as she reaches an audience I'm ok.
Not sure what new audience she'd reach here with anaconda but numbers are what matter...not quality

I had actually typed up that post slightly before you posted your reply and I just added your quote to it (which is why Willy is mentioned fsdfds) because I knew someone would question the label which is entirely ok. I make mistakes and I have to rethink things sometimes, weigh out the options. Discussions can't be one sided.
And, yeah, I don't know what new audience she is going to reach with Anaconda either, but I don't think she has any audiences she hasn't touched in some way so that doesn't seem to be her goal with this track.
