"Anything Goes" by Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga
"Anything Goes" is the first teaser track for the upcoming duet album Cheek to Cheek by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. The rather short track is a cover of a Cole Porter-penned song featured in the musical Anything Goes (1934). The modern yet still traditional production to the track is lovely and the standout part of the song is the instrumental break in the middle of the song. Gaga and Bennett vocally do the track justice as well as making the lyrics shine thus showing that the almost century old song still has some relevant wisdom within its lyrics.
Does the track top their previous collaboration/cover "The Lady Is A Tramp"? No, but it is a decent song worthy of some buzz and gives me hope that Cheek to Cheek could end up being a great album.
Score: 7/10

Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - "Bang Bang"
If I had heard this song not knowing who was behind it, I would have thought I was listening to a leftover High School Musical track. This track is the definition of dated in today's music scene. Jessie J's vocals tend to get drowned out with the blaring music coming from all around. Though I like her vocals on here, there is just not enough Ariana Grande to even really remember that she's on the track. The saving grace of this song is Nicki's flow on her part of the track. She takes the song and brings something memorable to it. The hardest part though is to try getting this song out of your head. It is overall catchy and will stay with you for a long time, even if you don't want it to. _6/10
Hilary Duff - "Chasing the Sun"
I was excited to hear what Hilary Duff had to offer as a comeback single. Instead, we get a quite boring track that doesn't go anywhere. Hilary's vocals are nothing to brag about here. The song reminds me of a watered down, recycled "Soak Up The Sun: by Sheryl Crow. I don't see it becoming much of a success and she will have to step it up for her next single if she wants to continue her singing career right now. Disappointed would be an understatement in how I feel about this song. _2.5/10
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - "Anything Goes"
Growing up I was immersed in a lot of different genres of music, one of them being jazz and old time,y throwback music, so I'm glad this track came about. Lady Gaga's vocals are suited perfectly for this song. Tony is a legend on his own and can do no wrong here, but the added perk of having Lady Gaga really makes the song really gel together. Lady Gaga should take a few pointers from this song and really bring herself back to the vocals of a song and remember you don't necessarily need all the glitz and glam all the time. Sometimes simple really works. I'm really glad this collaboration was able to happen.

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - "Anything Goes"

"Anything Goes" is the lead single from Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga's highly anticipated jazz album "Cheek to Cheek" scheduled for release September 23 2014. As a fan of jazz music myself (and Gaga of course) I'm extremely excited for this album. However, this single definitely did not reach my expectations. While their arrangement of the track is fun and easy to listen to, the song is very monotonous, it doesn't really go anywhere and it's nowhere near powerful enough to be a lead single. The short length of the song (just a little over 2 minutes to be exact) doesn't help either. It's just One of the things that saved this otherwise boring "elevator music teas" song, was the vocals. Gaga really showcased what a truly fantastic jazz singer she is here and it's clear that she was born to sing in this genre. Tony's vocals are also extremely impressive. Especially for an 87 year old man. Another highlight of this track is the chemistry between the two. You can tell they were made to sing together. They play off each other so well and it sounds like they are genuinely enjoying recording together. In summary, while the song is fun and easy to listen to, the length and the lack of excitement in this song dragged down the score quite a bit.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - "Bang Bang"
When news broke that Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande were releasing a song together, my world paused. But upon rereading, I noticed Jessie J's name in the mix and my happiness quickly suspended. Don't get me wrong, Jessie J is talented, but the British pop star is known for screaming to her heart's content, and I just wasn't sure that my ears were ready. With Jessie's loud howls, Ariana's mushy vocals, and Nicki's brash and quick-fire flow, I just wasn't sure of what to expect. Suffice to say, the trio proved me wrong. "Bang Bang" is pop perfection. The sexually-charged lyrics contrast awesomely with the production's wonderful High School Musical 2 soundtrack nostalgia. Somehow, Jessie J and Ariana found a way to mesh their voices seamlessly, weaving in and out of each other with ease. Nicki provides the highlight of the song, bringing barz into the equation. The three artist merge their individual strengths to create 2014's song of the year.

Anything Goes!
Here we are w/ the much anticipated song from Lady Gaga and Matthew Bennett. Honestly... Jazz music is almost foreign to me because l don't listen nor do l care for this type of music. This is of music they would play in a flashback to the 1800s where movies were in black and white. Don't quote me on that.
lm not a huge fan of her but l must say... Lady Gaga has a GREAT voice. Very powerful! As does Mathew Bennett! Even though this is the 1st time l've even heard of him. Their voices flow well together and l must show them props for that. But as l stated before l don't really care for the song and l am getting sleepy just hearing the song. Doesn't have too much replay value. But on the bright side the song isnt that long
But all in all... this isn't the song that will tear up the clubs and lt do the same on the charts. lts just smooth and soulful so take that for what it is. l def expected to bash the song but l was proved wrong.

Hilary Duff - "Chasing The Sun"
Hilary, you couldn't have picked a video guy who didn't skip leg day? All I kept looking at was those boney ass calfs. First of all you're on the beach... you're suppose to give J. Lo "I'm Into You" tea not Colbie Caillat. You should have me chasing my ichunes card and punching the purchase button cause with this basic **** you better be chasing that time machine so you can go back and sign that check off to Charli for that hit she had ready an willing to give to you. You're telling me this is your big comeback? Girl boom (clap)! [D-]

SINGLE REVIEW
Hilary, the Sun is running away for a reason.
A Chasing the Sun Single Review
Ch...
After releasing Come Clean, an amazing generation defining record during her post disney phase, Hilary Duff returns to the musical forefront (eh?) with "Chasing the Sun", which has to be the most underwhelming musical come back of all time.
The song literally goes no where. It makes me feel like I'm in the car driving to work, and I HATE driving to work. On top of that, it is heavily pitch corrected. Trying to fool listeners to believe that this acoustic sounding recording is actually acoustic, simply doesn't work here.
While I'm sure this record is self-serving, I hope Hilary's album will have more records catered to her demographic.
The sea-farring, folgers coffee cup commercial sounding Chasing the Sun, is not it.
VERDICT
2
No thanks.

Hilary Duff - Chasing the Sun
As a long-time follower of Hilary Duff's music career, I'm content that she's provided some really good pop songs over the years like So Yesterday, With Love, and Holiday. Chasing the Sun couldn't be further from what the A-list pop girls are releasing these days, but that doesn't mean the song's bad either. Like everyone's pointed out, it has that laidback Colbie Caillat vibe to it (but seriously, why is Colbie still a thing, she's so basic!). After repeated listens, it's growing on me but I already know it's not going to be one of my go-to faves. Hilary's also never been the best vocalist out there, and I came to expect that with this release, the studio magic ends up bringing out the best in her. In a time where pop music is dominated by EDM and trendy alternative anthems, Chasing the Sun is far from what today's crowd is looking for. Which leads me to my question of whether or not this song's release is intended for mainstream radio play? Because, if a smash hit is what Hilary Duff is going for in 2014, she'll need to try a little harder.

The Lowdown: Cute but ultimately predictable jazz cover gets old quickly.
Anything Goes, the lead single from Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's jazz effort Cheek to Cheek, is a cover of a classic 1930s song. Unfortunately, because of this the instrumental sounds almost generic, like a jazz instrumental one could pull out of GarageBand. This doesn't ruin the song, however, as Gaga and Bennett's voices blend well. Even though Gaga has the vocal capability to overpower Bennett, she does a good job restraining herself and as a result the two sound good together. Despite being fitted with a current singer, the song still sounds very retro, but it is hard to not when you are doing a 1930s song. The track completely chilled me out. It's not very memorable, and it doesn't have much replay value. That said, it's an OK song and a nice song for Gaga to have on her resumé.
