First. Human beings are animals driven by curiosity. Second. Survival of the fittest. Earth is doomed, believe it or not. Due to global warming and pollution you will see a lot of changes in the immediate future

It would actually be kind of cool for humans to move to Mars and create an environment sustainable of life. It'd be the first time humans of any kind got to not only watch the creation of a new world, but be involved in it.

The sad reality about moving to Mars is that its size would not accommodate us all. By time the technology would allow us to fly there, the Earth's population will probably be double what it is now and so only the richest of the rich and most imporant would be able to escape to Mars while the rest of the humans died from whatever is forcing mankind to venture out.

I'd rather stay on Earth, but hopefully you'll be able to Skype

Believe it or not, it will be a classy trip. Only those who are affluent will be able to purchase a ticket to Mars, and they'll ensure that only individuals who are also affluent are able to travel to Mars. It's the concept of survival of the fittest. If you're not affluent, you'll probably stay on earth.

Luxury is for the wealthy.

Because sooner or later we won't be able to stay on this planet anymore (all of us here will be dead by then though) and humans being intelligent creatures they are already looking for an alternative when that time arrives.
