True, but you kind of are. If you follow a popstar based on the music itself and not for their level of success, then your tastes are either something you are born with, or something you have developed but that you can't really control.
If you don't Stan fah Rih, Bey, Taylor, Katheryn what do you have to look forward to every era? Being excited over a Top 20 hit and an album going Gold while the Top tiers can do the same with no promo?
Idk maybe I'm over thinking but it would be sad if my fav was continuously outshined by the top tiers even if I felt they deserve better

No. I stan for talent, quality and personality, not Top 40s and chart success.
Whether my faves ever achieve chart success is completely irrelevant to me. As long as they continue making music that I enjoy, they will always be my faves.
Likewise, any artist that gets constant Top 40s is completely useless to me, if I don't like their music. Couldn't care less what the GP thinks after all the payola is said and done.
Even if my fave wasn't 'top tier' according to your perameters, I would still stan for her. Sure, seeing my fave succeed is gratifying but I enjoy her music no matter whether it smashes, flops or otherwise and that's what it's really about.
Second,I think it sucks not stanning for top tier because you understand how hard it is to make it big in the game. the struggle with the labels,the music never released ,the songs given to top tier,the broken dreams (of your fave). It's tough
It goes beyond the charts & the fame imo.
But supporting a top tier is tough because of the media attention (I mean constant attacks),expectations & criticism.
I stan for Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. I much prefer their music, performances, visuals and overall the content they deliver/delivered to other music acts. That's why I stan for them.
I stan for the music and talent first, but my favs success is the icing on the cake. Lets be honest, you don't make it to the top tier or legend status without commercial success and longevity ala MJ, Whitney, Madonna, Janet and Beyonce etc.
I mean kinda. There's less to talk about here because my faves generally don't get brought up as often, but I mean I'm not just going to choose to stan for someone else just because they're more popular.
But then again, Becky's well on her way to becoming a top-tier girl so it's only a matter of time before I am stanning for one again.
