Why is she doing a jazz album then? Why does she continue to work with DJs and directing her own videos, rather than working with professionals? Why did she fire her manager?
I don't think commercial success is that important to her. If you could accuse her of one thing, its that she's desperate to be a legend. She wants to be seen as a connoisseur of pop culture, she wants to be respected, and she wants to be seen as a performer with artistic integrity. She has got a big ego - she wants her work to be seen as amazing, and of course commercial success is nice, but i think she'd rather be a revered icon. It's a shame she doesn't seem to realise you need success to be remembered.
