Filming on the new series of The Big Bang Theory is being held up because of a contract dispute with its stars.
Warner Bros. Television, which makes the popular comedy, said Wednesday's first scheduled day of work on season eight had been postponed.
It is understood the studio is still trying to hammer out new deals for Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar, who are thought to be requesting higher salaries.
The Hollywood Reporter cites a source who said Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco, who currently earn $325,000 per half-hour episode, are seeking up to $1m per episode. (read the full article)
The exact same thing happened before the filming of the previous season too where they wanted another huge pay boost before they agreed to film. Interesting how as their wages rise the actual quality of the show declines.
They're right to. Their ratings are enormous and they do very well overseas and for home release sales. The show has peaked and is going to decline fast, but it's a staple for CBS right now so it's their last time to negotiate while at the top.
They deserve it It is not okay that Ashton Kutcher is the highest paid sitcom actor for his mediocre performance on a show that is far worse and doesn't even get as many viewers.
They should, tbh. The show is crap but ratings are at an all-time high and will certainly start falling soon so they better get them coins while they can.
Sounds about right, they're the biggest stars of the show but they need to hurry up because the show is getting stale and it will only go down so they better milk it for what is worth.
Edit: I saw that Galecki is asking for a raise too, his boring and obnoxious ass don't deserve, Leonard is just unbearable.
I honest to God don't understand how after every geek cliche has been slaughtered and ground into the dirt that this show is still so popular. One of the most overrated sitcoms of all time.
The million isnt the problem... they want a back-end deal too.... Meaning they'll get money off of syndication well after the show is over. That's why the studio isn't moving with the deal right now.
so 72 million ( assuming they will do 24 eps this season plus whatever Heinberg and Nayar are getting) plus millions upon millions in backend. I can see a final season after this one if the deal gets approved.
Look at Charlie Sheen...he's set to make 200 million off of Anger Management cuz of the syndication deal. 200 Million!!! And no one watches that show.
