When I think of the Middle East, I don't really picture an established, sizeable middle class.

I also think of Islam and Muslims even though the world's largest Muslim population is in Indonesia, it's always associated with the Middle East.

Oh, and I think of the War in Iraq, the War in Afghanistan, Israel/Gaza/Palestine, the political turmoil in Iran and Syria...just a lot of civil unrest

- Dangerous; lots of protests, riots, wars

- Lots of religion-related extremism

- If you don't live in a major city you're likely really poor

- Terrorist groups that hate the Western world

- Developing. Not developed like the West, but not as bad as central Africa.

The Middle East has the best cuisine ever. That's about it.

I went to the middle east last April (Egypt) and thought it was wonderful. Friendliest people i have ever met. The food is good too.

There are some parts that I don't think I'd step foot in, but I'm sure most of the middle east isn't as bad as the media portrays it.
