Leona Lewis is back from the States and was in London to open Britain's newest and largest shopping centre. Newsbeat caught up with her to find out what she's got planned for next year, how she feels about returning to perform on X Factor and what happened when she met up with Justin Timberlake.

What's the best thing about being back in the UK?

Definitely the family, the friends. It's just being home.

Are you re-releasing Run [the cover you did] as a single?

For now it's just part of the album but I'll be doing a few performances of it on TV and it'll be available to download. We'll just see how it goes.

Are you working on another album?

I am towards the end of the year, very soon actually, and next year with the hopes to be out next November.

Who are you working with?

On this album it's kind of going for a more live feel so I'm working with a few different bands which I won't mention now. You'll find out soon enough, it's a different direction.

There'll be ballads too. That's my thing. But it'll have a bit of an edge to it. It's always good to keep it fresh and try new things.

Were you gutted you missed the Mobos?

I was really gutted but I had previous commitments outside the country from a long time ago so I couldn't really break them.

The two awards were amazing so I was really happy about that.

Were you upset when you heard about what happened? [the booing]

Yes. The thing is that everyone that didn't turn up got an iffy reception. I had commitments and I couldn't really break them. I wish I could have been there.

I was there last year and support the awards but unfortunately this year I couldn't be there.

You're going back to X Factor - how will that be?

Gosh, really nerve wracking. I went back there last year. That was the most nervous I've probably ever been singing.

This year I think I'll be nervous, but I will be a little bit more confident. It's just going back to where it all began, going onto that stage and having the judges there.

What's been the highlights since you've been in the States? Did you perform with Justin Timberlake?

Justin had an event on called Justin And Friends and I was invited to perform, along with Adam Levine from Maroon 5, Rihanna, Will.I.Am.

I was really, really honoured to be a part of that. It was loads of fun, I got to speak to Justin and I might be doing some work with him. So it was a very cool event to be at.

And what's your plan for next year - a live tour?

Live tour will probably come the year after next. Next year is album. Album then tour.

My guess for the bands is The Script and One Republic

Ballads, BOW and by edge I hope that means 'BL'/'TAB' style

Working with JT

I'm hoping this album will have more of a distinct sound, because I don't think Spirit had that as much.

From the news beat inteview we could hear the first single of the new album in 10 months times. So we may have the first single in 11 months.

I hope they release one last single of Spirit in the meantime.

I reackon they need to release atleast one more song WW, in the UK i'm unsure.. 'MG' isn't single worthy and the other tracks are on the original so wouldn't sell as well and I'm certain 'Run' will chart highly next month when she performs it on the 'XF' and 'Divas II' anyway.

She handled the Mobo question in the interview really well IMO and her wearing the poppy makes me nostalgic to when she was wearing it in the 'SSTBTHW' performance

I'm now thinking they need to release run as a single and make a quick video in Black & White. To me that sets the mood of the song.
