Singles dont determinate album's sales.
So, what i have noticed lately is that, artists release lead singles in the US, which become HUGE hits, and yet their album doesnt sell much, when other artist have mediocre hits and score better sales!
Lets talk facts:
-Pink's Funhouse: So What was #1 on Billboard, it has gone platinum so far, and is still going really strong, its breaking records in Pop Radios and yet, the album debuts with sales of 170-180k! and Pink is an established artist!
-PCD's Doll Domination: When I Grow Up was a Top 10 hit, that has gone platinum and most likely will go Platinum x2, was a Top 10 Hit in Pop radios, and the album debuts with sales of 70-80k!
-Jazmin Sullivan- Her first single peaked at #37, and 2d only in the Bubbling Under. and yet, she debuted at #6 with 65k sold. and this was her debut album
-Jennifer Hudson: Spotlight peaked at #24 on Billboard, and yet her alum sold 200k+ in the first week. and its also her debut album
-The Game's LAX: His first single peaked at #75 on BB, his 2nd single only in Bubbling Under, and 3rd at #21 and it sold 238k+ in the first week.
-Demi Lovato's Dont Forget: Get Back peaked at #43 on BB and yet her album debuted with sales of 89k in the first week. and its her debut album
those are some few recent examples. The list can go on and on. Of course there are some exceptions like T.I's album and Ne Yo's album, but album's sales these days are definitely not depending weather a single is successful or not..
Thoughts.?
