agree , but Russia and China signed an oil/gas deal so China will be against sanctions or choosing sides because now their industry will rely on russian sources . Then you have Turkey and Russia has an eye on Turkey since Ottoman empire so they have some trade and economic deal with them also. Than all arabic world is more pro Russian than pro American ( and we all know why ) , some latin countries also have " americanophobia " . It's not that simple and we can not for sure say that the USA is in a better position
1) yes the USA can survive on their own but american hyper production can't be absorbed just by the US market . One of the reasons why the USA decided to join Russa/UK against Germany in WW I is because american economy was effected by it cause they couldn't sell their goods so their economy suffered . And less trade means less money . Sure, if cold war II happens they can trade with others but not as much as they would if the world stays the same. Also Russia has allies too . So it would not be just a clear win for the USA
2) US didn't won the Cold war . Socialism collapsed and it wasn't because of the USA . Maybe you guys in the USA are learning that stuff like it was just about "america " but it really wasn't. Socialism is unperfect just like capitalism . Also the US is "official " superpower but China controls it all . You don't need big army , ships ect , you just need to make the world become addicted to you .
And yes Russia also has massive gas supply.
I'm not some pro Russian but when i read some comments , it's like quite a number of people thinks that the USA can easily defeat any country and that is immune on everything like some mythological creature but at the same time it's struggling with high dept , fiscal crises , health care ect . Hobbes said that the state can't be perfect because it is made by humans
It's not just about winner or a loser cause you don't have a winner if this happens just the world full of angry , desperation, hate , ignorance , fear

The US didn't join because of that. One reason was Germany was attacking American ships. Also the US was already pro UK. They were sending them supplies. The only reason America didn't join initially because America was isolationist, they had a long standing rule to never get involved in world affairs. Obviously the US has changed since. Russian allied are weak against American allies. Americas main allies are the UK, Germany, and France along with all of Western Europe. Literally its the US and the EU. Which Russia and it's allies cannot compete with at all.
The Cold War was not just about capitalism versus socialism. It was also about influence and military power. The US won that battle. Look at the world today and how much American culture has infiltrated the planet from music to movies. The US has effectively built a world where it can prosper. From the UN to the IMF. Military based in nearly every country on the planet and last but not least capitalism being the dominate system.
You're reading it wrong. No one said the US was invincible. But to say China has that much of an affect is wrong. Russia is literally a shadow of its former self. Sure the US is no where near as powerful as it was during the Cold War but it had somewhat retained a bulk of that power.
All those things you mentioned are problems that can be easily fixed. Unlike China and Russia which has much worse human right violations the most Americans have to worry about is nothing compared to a Russian citizen.
