A bit of a random thought, but I've been noticing that more and more sites are removing their comment sections on articles. Which is a huge step away from the whole
tell us your thoughts! Tweet us what you think, like and comment on Facebook that many news sites and channels were pushing a few years ago.
Do productive things ever get said in comment sections, more often than not, anywhere besides youtube they end up looking like:
because of hateful content (on any topic imaginable.)
Youtube videos have the optional "Comments are disabled for this video" but usually that implies that some **** went down that the uploader couldn't handle. But should it be like that? I actually don't mind it and would think comments being disabled as often as they are enabled would be a good place for the site to be at. Where it's just accepted the uploader decides if s/he wants comments and not because they can't "handle" something.
So yeah, just because everyone has something to say should sites give them/keep these sections or are we getting passed that stage of the internet.
