The number crunchers in the industry take these things into consideration because money is on the line. The fact of the matter is that Songs in A Minor had it's record sales and airplay for Fallin bought and paid for by the record company to launch Alicia's career. FACT.
Even if you consider that a better comparison for Songs in A Minor may be comparing the album Bey had out at that time called Survivor with Destiny's child.
