Exactly, she needs to stop saying that as if the PCD were the original ones. They were extremely successful and great dancers and overall performers, yes. The only thing that set them apart from the other girl bands were the fact that Nicole was pretty much the only singer in the group and the other were just backing singers and dancers.
But they invent anything, their first album was huge but the 2nd, who remembers it ? OK there were When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part but they were just successful singles at the time, nothing more.
Having said that, I don't think G.R.L. will made it. Ugly Heart is quite good, good tune, great video but I don't see it happening. They will always be seen as the PCD 2.0. If a girl band wants to have a chance to have success and to be more than just one hit-wonder, they have to found their sound proprely.
Destiny's Child sounded like TLC at the beginning of their career, but I mean, they had Beyonce and that is a big difference.
Girls Aloud were automatically compared to the Spice Girls when they came onto the stage (and rightly so) but they have their sound (thanks to Xenomania), so they manage to be successful for quite a long time.
G.R.L. what have they ? They're good-looking girls, they can sing, they capable to dance but nothing special... I don't see one or two girls that have that X factor.
