As for the bolded when I rank my songs they are based on song plays really. Now initially I use the trackings from my last fm to start my ranking, but then from the amount of plays tracked from that, I tend to place songs higher if I ever got to listen to them on radio or in other parts of my life.
For example, my roadtrip with my friend in early June, Stay With Me rose to #12 thanks to him playing that song over and over. Its actually plays I gave it were rather low, but thanks to that play buzz (if that makes any sense) Buzz can help the song especially in a tie

I use last.fm as a guideline and then factor in a couple other things like if I streamed it on Youtube, got the song stuck in my head, or heard it on the radio, but for the most part, my chart is like a loose survey of what the top songs are and I just choose positions based on what seems right (it's like the charts in the 70s!) I do like your method better.
