The quality of Mariah's music has nothing to do with it, either. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been nominated so many times. There was a lot of spread-your-wealth moments in the '90s (for the most part at least). Outside of the Eric Clapton and Quincy Jones sweeps, there weren't huge sweeps again until the year Lauryn Hill won five Grammys. After that, it was a trend + more categories were being added on.

And anybody saying Mariah's music lacks quality is either deaf, basic, stupid or all 3 because the way that woman sings, writes, produces, layers her vocals upon more vocals and several melodies jammed into a song is the most complex thing ever and that is nothing to scoff at because your basic selves probably couldn't even write a single lyric that has an ounce of quality. Let's not forget the most infamous Grammy snub of all time, her Butterfly era. That alone proved that the Grammy's absolutely had it in for Mariah and were an absolute sham!
