"Chamakay" has made quite some buzz on some year end lists. Dev still gets credit for his lyrics and production but come on, some tracks he's just even better when he has a featured or collaborated artist. And on this Dev is joined by Chairlift's (I love them) vocalist Caroline Polachek, who really carry's the song with her beautiful vocals layered over Dev's.
Not even gonna say anything that I want to last longer because clearly that cursed me last time.
FKA I don't like anything she's put out from those two EPs, but Two Weeks is a great track + I remember listening to the snippets from her upcoming album and actually most of the album sounded really good.
An earlier contender for the #1 spot gets the boot. “It Won’t Stop” is a massively catchy, smooth-sailing electro-R&B groove, and Sevyn melodically croons across a guitar strum and a hard knocking bass. Can we just forgot about Chris Brown version? So unnecessary but I guess it was helpful enough to get Sevyn a summer smash.
The new wave of: 2013
Previously known for penning tracks for some of our favorite artists and being in two unsuccessful girl-groups, last year certainly has been a great year for Sevyn, as she has one of the most talked about about R&B songs and 7-track EP of 2013. Sevyn has came a long way and she still has so much in store for us in the future.
