With Mickey Mouse being named the most recognizable personality in the world I think we can safely say his franchise is also the most iconic one to come around. You just can't escape it.
It got me wondering which media franchise is the second most impactful. I tried to only include ones that dominated industries (Simpsons dominated TV, Harry Potter dominates books etc)
Anyways in my opinion I say Mario is the second most iconic as it is the only one to really get a significant amount of media attention for supposedly being a bigger phenomenon than Mickey.
Harry Potter, Star Wars, Minecraft, Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, The Simpsons, Sean Cody, Hello Kitty, X Factor, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Winnie the Poo, Disney Princesses.
Mickey Mouse isn't that popular. Does anyone actually like him? He's just thrust in our faces.
Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes should be included. Otherwise, probably Mario or Star Wars. The Simpsons and Harry Potter are getting up there...I think those franchises will only get bigger in coming years (HP has more stories to tell).
