Gaga was #1 singer at the time BTW was released. #1 singer singing about gay rights on her lead single?? You really think that didn't capture ANYONE's attention? I was 17 at the time it was released, hated myself for being gay, as did many others. We all felt not accepted and than #1 singer releases a song saying we should accept ourselves just like everybody else should.

And yes, it had impact cause it made many radio stations cut that part of the song, protests were held in some muslim countries, etc. That is the meaning of the world impact !

6x Platinum and still selling more than BTW, barely 4x Platinum (?). 460 million views on Youtube compared to BTWs laughable 130 million. And you monsters have the nerve to preach how BTW had more impact than any Katy single.

Born This Way (for better or worse) had way more impact than Teenage Dream. While Firework and TD's other singles are remembered for the solid, fun pop songs that they are, none of them even begin to reach Born This Way's (the single) cultural and social impact, its controversy, or its anticipation and hype. All eyes were on Gaga when Born This Way was released. Katy Perry was just...there.
