With Chamber, we didn't know until Hermione was petrified. All we knew was it was a 'Monster'.

While I appreciated the backstory that we got in Half-Blood Prince, I felt like there was an experimentation in the writing style that completely ruined the tone and pacing. It's almost as if she hired someone else to write the actual book for her after giving them the plot details. Prisoner of Azkaban is a fan favorite, but I found it drawn-out and anti-climactic, especially when teasing the return of Voldemort in a way that made readers anxious for actual plot development. Deathly Hallows is amazing and packed with great moments and highlights, but the pacing and writing style of Goblet of Fire really are amazing. The return of Voldemort is pretty unforgettable, too.
