Actually, alligators were very endangered in the 60s and 70s and were endangered because of habitat loss and poaching.
Because people like to eat them and make things out of alligator leather, they began to farm them, the farms helped the alligator populations bounce back and now they aren't endangered anymore. Really interesting stuff.
