Amel Bent's Ma Philosophie is one of the most classic song of the past decade in France. release mid decade but still 10m views. (pretty rare for french videos).

It's not an attempt at anything. It's just the
truth. I'm French so I know what I talking about...
R'n'b used to be successful in the 90's and 00s (Ophelie Winter, K-Reen, Assia, Wallen, Lâam, Jalane, Leslie, Amel Bent, Vitaa, Zaho, Sheryfa Lunan Melissa, Kenza Farah, Lea Castel etc) in France but slowed down a lot since the 10's, that's why Amel has become way more pop since 2009 and most people can't believe she went from
Un Jour d'été to
Instinct, the quality decrease is extraordinary. Shy'm did the same but with way more success (coming from a Ciara inspired artist to a straight up popstar, with vocoderized vocals and edgy costumes).
"Ma Philosophie" contains an inspiring, universal, empowerment message, inspired by Diam's solo material (the biggest female rapper ever) with Mariah-like vocals. It was completely different to what she's unsuccesfully doing now and brought her a LOT of acclaim. I still remember, she's the first woman in France to get a "Victoire de la musique", in spite of the stigma attached to people coming from a singing, reality show.
