It's just another feature. Like in Sims 2 you could die at any point from a piece of space junk landing on your Sim, or if your Sim stayed outside too long (like if you built your lot outside only) you could die by Flies. Or in Seasons where you could die by lightning xD
But this won't happen all the time. It's a rare occurrence apparently.

Nah, you could tell the whole gameplay video was coded beforehand. Which is why The Sims felt already angry before after they made their Sims to fit their story lines etc. They planned the house before hand (you can see them delete the walls which didn't have any paint on them so it was obvious it was made for this video etc.) and they pre-programmed the item to go on fire, they made the dictator mad before to fit their storyline etc.
Everything was scripted including the video so they could show off features.
The transporting to lots instantly is so weird, I'll have to get used to it 
Thankfully I gave EA Help Adviser Ms. Olivia a call and she set me right. Gave me the code straight away 
In the Sims 3 the water looked amazing from afar.
