Pink is a fighter. Even after she spoke about wanting a gay son in this interview, she spoke about how her father taught her to fight, and what/who to fight for. She's also said before that she loves no one in this world more than her daughter. So what could she enjoy doing with her life more than fighting for the rights of one of her children. She's already a passionate advocate for gay rights anyway. She probably wants to feel like an actual part of the community, rather than just feeling like an allie. We should welcome her.
I changed my parents minds on gay rights and gay marriage. And even now, it's still kind of awkward. I can't tell you how much easier it would have been if my parents were young, cool and liberal, and my mum spent my whole life crossing her fingers thinking "please be gay! please be gay! please be gay!"
It's not ignorant in the slightest. If she has a son and he finds himself attracted to other men when he starts puberty, he's probably going to see this interview on youtube, realise how much his mum loves him unconditionally, and realise that she actually wants him to be gay. Coming out would be a breeze.
