A local television reporter covering the killing of a police officer in New Jersey said Tuesday that he was suspended for two days after expressing his opinion on-air about antipolice sentiment in the African-American community.
In a segment on Sunday for News 12 New Jersey on the shooting of the officer, Melvin Santiago, the reporter, Sean Bergin, said that the station had decided to report on the suspect in the case to “shine a light on this anticop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities.”
“The underlying cause for all of this, of course: Young black men growing up without fathers,” he said.
Mr. Bergin has worked for several years as a freelancer for local news channels run by News 12 Networks. After his comments aired, he said he was suspended from the network on Monday and Tuesday.
NO he ****ing didn't oh my god how did they even approve his segment to say that on air wow. Idk how news casting works, but don't they have to pre-approve everything a reporter is going to say...
If he said it on his own accord then they need to start pre-screening what they are going to report.
OR maybe just maybe it's because these power hungry white cops have a track record for killing black men without reason. OR maybe it's because these black kids see these things happen with their own eyes i.e. Rodney King, Oscar Grant, Trayvon Martin & plenty of other black men that were brutalized and/or killed by cops that didn't make the news are the reason these sunburned ass cops aren't trusted.
Literally has nothing to do with no having a father in your life. And how ironic a black man that took care of his children was killed.

Or maybe even because of the simple fact that they are criminals and most criminals hate cops?
If he's gonna take it there, lettuce discuss why many black males grow up without fathers in the first place.
