"Actually the movie makes a bit of sense when you start to actually think about it. Up to 12% of your brain constitutes the conscious mind, the rest constitutes the sub-conscious mind and the behaviors that you have no control over. Let's observe one example in the movie - having unlocked more of her brain, Scarlett changes her hair color to black instead of brown. Your hair color is decided by the pigments that your body sends into your hair - more accurately, by the ratio of the pigments.
Your hair color is determined by the quantity of melanin in it. There are two types of melanin - eumelanin and phomelanin. If your hair has a lot of eumelanin, it will be black, while with only a little bit of eumelanin it will be lighter, blonde. Now, we know that the process in which the melanin is sent to the hair, is a process done by the ANS (Autonomic Nervous System), meaning, it is done automatically by the sub-conscious mind without you never knowing about it. Now, let's take into consideration that you have 'unlocked' more than 10% of your brain - in reality, this would simply mean that you would then have access to the parts of your brain that usually belong to your sub-conscious mind, the ANS.
With this access, you could make the conscious decision to send more eumelanin into your hair, and you could make your hair darker. Of course, this wouldn't be instantaneous, but the effect would make your hair darker about as quickly as hair normally grows, which is about one inch a month. The difference would not be noticable only after a long time of letting your hair grow out, but, having unlocked this part of your brain and having access to it consciously, you could change your hair color by choosing to change your hair color. The movie is not wrong - it is only an exaggeration."
